Named for its clear views of the Santa Cruz Mountains, the city of Mountain View has grown from its stagecoach stop origins into a key Silicon Valley city. In fact, the first company to develop silicon semiconductor devices in the region was founded in Mountain View in 1956. Today, the city is perhaps best known for Googleplex, the home of tech giant, Google. Residents flock to Shoreline Amphitheatre, a dream-like venue set just off the baylands that has hosted some of music's most iconic performances.
